Leadership Development

Team Captain offers an innovative approach to leadership training — a unique sailing experience designed to empower individuals and unlock their full leadership potential.

Why sailing?

Sailing is an activity rooted in teamwork, communication, and adaptability.

Just as a skilled skipper navigates a vessel in open waters, a successful leader guides their team through challenges, ensuring they reach their goals. By immersing participants in a sailing experience, Team Captain facilitates the development of essential leadership qualities that can be transferred back to the workplace.

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”

— Oscar Wilde

Our Program

Designed in close collaboration with Canadian CEOs and C-Suite members, this course aims to empower and assist leaders in rediscovering connection to their teams and to themselves.

The 4-day program brings participants together through textbook learning and on-the-water training. Questions and discussions at the beginning and end of each day create a collaborative environment and a safe working space.

A small group of 3-5 participants will learn to safely operate a 36-foot sailing vessel under sail and under power. Participants will be challenged in planning, strategizing, delegating, and decision-making.

The Framework

Our Vessel

The training vessel is a C&C 36 with a full complement of cruising facilities: kitchen, bathroom and seating area.

Our Classroom

Our courses are taught on board at the dock and underway in English Bay, in the middle of open water.

Team Captain is rooted in self-awareness, the challenges of communication, the rewards of authentic leadership, and how we translate those experiences into our everyday life.

Team Captain shows leaders that through the sailing experience, they are able to develop the tools and skills they need to forge meaningful connections with their teams and with themselves
